SPIRITUAL EVOLUTION
Creative energy flows through my veins
Like life-sustaining elements
Locking me inside my imagination
Where no reality is of relevance
The prison cell where I reside
Becomes my penthouse in the sky
With a view so spectacular
It'll make a grown man cry
I'm like a stone inside a mine
Being nourished to near perfection
Outgrowing my criminal aspirations
And severe juvenile misconception
A multi-year spiritual retreat
From the fast life of the streets
Pursuing peace in every aspect
As I get closer to being free
Embracing the struggle with open arms
I allow my heart to school my brain
Listening deeply to its beat
I hear love's sweet refrain
It's like I've tapped into a matrix
With nothing to do but evolve
I can jump as high as I can dream
Without perishing from the fall
I maneuver through turmoil
Like a lab rat in a maze
Under the influence of my sincerest instincts
To discover a better way
I'm a different person every day
So there are questions of concern
But I ain't stressed out about it
Because my change has been affirmed.
